FOTOTOURS

We understand that photography is a vital tool for Conservation and protecting our natural habitat. Without photography there is no knowledge, and without knowledge there is no conservation.
The creation of photographic images brings people closer to nature and introduces them to new cultures. In this way, Photography can change our behaviour and how we relate to our surroundings. Our photography activities aim to draw attention human and environmental stories in areas where it is necessary to establish sustainable activities that rely on natural spaces that need to be preserved.
This activities are ideal for those who would like to enjoy and learn new photographic techniques. You can expect to develop skills in different photographic disciplines, to discover new areas of creativity or just enjoy taking very specialized pictures with the guidance of specialists and professionals in Photography.

ORCHID ROUTE

The Litoral mountain range and the mountains of Prades are home to extremely well conserved plant colonies. The undeniable botanical richness of these mountains, where for climatological reasons native Mediterranean vegetation sits side by side with plants of strong continental influence, has been the source of numerous studies and flora catalogues. This diversity of flora is reflected in the number of species of a certain plant family, well known in the ornamental plant arena, but invisible to the majority of people in the wild. We are talking about Orchids.
These native orchids are fascinating, because of the diversity of species to be found here, and because of the special interest that the Orchidacea family attracts, widely considered as the most evolved plant species, and certainly one of the most complex.
We are familiar with the beauty of tropical Orchids but many don’t realize that our own unique variety grows on our doorstep.
We will discover and photograph their life cycle, their spectacular reproductive strategies that make the flower a colorful, aromatic and irresistible trap for insects.

What are we going to do?

We will begin our route in the old military camp of Castillejos. The day will be split into two parts; Theory and Practice. The time devoted to theory has been structured in the following way; a brief introduction to the world of Orchids, followed by a basic explanation of different techniques to capture the best photos of them.
The activity is focussed on the observation of nature and macro photography.
We will cover different areas in order to observe and capture some of the 50 species found in this area.

The job of the instructor will take two forms:
Firstly, to accompany the participants. During the guided tour, we will classify the plants, and identify each species.
Secondly, to instruct on macro-photography technique. Teaching different techniques, natural and artificial lighting techniques and the control of the background and depth of field. The objective is to take descriptive, yet creative images that will be unique to you and your point of view.

LIFE IN THE VINEYARDS

The Cultivation of Vinyards has long been a part of the natural and cultural landscape of our country.
These centuries-old interferences in the environment of the Mediterranean basin have become models studied by ecologists. The results are surprising. Studies indicate that this way of farming creates islands of biodiversity with high levels of genetic flow that creates a greater biodiversity index than in Mediterranean oak forests. This is the so-called emerging or novel ecosystem. New ecosystems are dynamic and constantly evolving.
The cultivation of vines in a respectful way creates a mosaic landscape, and in turn, an increase in the biodiversity of flora and fauna in the area. In this itinerary we’d like to photograph life in the secluded landscape of the vineyards, and show how a balanced use of resources can lead to one of the most alive and rich landscapes of the world.

What are we going to do?

We will begin in Casafort, a rural 12th Century village, just 400m from Nulles. The two rural touristic lodges have been restored, carefully preserving original architectural elements.
The day will be split in two practical parts. In the first, we will suggest different points of view and work on composition: The symmetry, the light balance, the shape and form, the balance, the rhythm and colour - always referencing the unique landscape of the vineyards. Slowly we will focus in on details, and work on concepts of macrophotography in order to get the stems, tendrils and vines…
We will move on to the Vicenç forest for the second part of the day. A private farm where a brand new bird observatory has been designed. We will be completely hidden, making it possible to enjoy details of several different species of bird just a few centimeters away without disturbing them.
